Mental Health Services
Military families and those connected to CAF members face unique challenges that can significantly impact their mental health and well-being. Frequent relocations, long periods of separation during deployments, and the stress associated with military life can place additional emotional and psychological strain on spouses, children, and other family members and loved ones.
Recognizing these challenges, the Comox Military Family Resource Centre (MFRC) provides mental health services designed specifically for military families. These services are aimed at promoting resilience, building skills, and improving overall well-being. By offering accessible and specialized support, we seek to ensure that military families receive the care they need while supporting the members who serve the country.

What can mental health support look like?
We value collaborative and client-centered care, meaning that our client's can let us know what feels the most supportive to them. We understand the diverse needs and challenges of folks connected to the military and offer services to:

We also occasionally offer group-based mental health supports, which can include skill building, processing shared lives experiences, or expressing through creative means.
All services are rooted in evidence-based and ethical practices, aligned with the Canadian Association of Social Worker's Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice. Our practice framework is informed by strengths-based, anti-oppressive, and trauma-informed approaches.
Where do sessions take place?
We are fortunate to have a welcoming and confidential office space to see clients in person. We have intentionally curated a warm and comfortable therapeutic space that encourages relaxation, openness, and psychological safety.
We also understand that barriers can exist to accessing in person care, which is why we also offer virtual sessions. We use a version of Zoom that is specifically designed for health professionals, ensuring we meet our privacy and confidentiality requirements.

Our consent form for mental health services has been digitized in order to accommodate those who are reaching out for virtual services. Please only complete this form after you have connected with our social worker for an initial consultation.
